So… am I the only one who side eyes the fuck out of Kola Boof?
So a similar situation to this blew up last night when Roseanne Barr said it re: trans women in women’s bathrooms. And I have to say, as a cis woman, that cis women need to take a seat on this issue. First of all, in a women’s room, there’s no opportunity to see ANYONE’S genitals - there are only closed stalls. If you’re personally uncomfortable with the idea of a penis being in a women’s room for whatever reason, that’s your prerogative. But you have to understand that your discomfort is far less than the violent and possibly deadly consequences that follow from forcing trans women to use the wrong bathroom. Please stop asking that people risk their lives so that you can voice your discomfort - that’s called abusing privilege and it’s not acceptable.
Reblogging for commentary, since I don’t have a clue who the tweeter is. But THAT is one of the things that has always fucking confused me about people getting upset over transwomen in the restroom. In the normal course of things, you don’t see each other’s bits in women’s public restrooms, period. Transwomen aren’t in there to cause problems or peek at you, they’re there to take care of business just like you are. It’s not a sacred place, and a cisman with ill intent could just as easily walk in there and hurt someone, so you’re not any more threatened than you would be otherwise. Chill out and let people relieve themselves like human goddamn beings, for fuck’s sake.
